Several people killed in Manhattan attack

Several people have been killed after a pickup truck was driven onto a foot path and cycle lane in New York City, police have said.


US media say at least seven people have died. A number of people have also been injured.

The truck hit another vehicle before a person got out carrying imitation firearms.

The suspect was shot by police and taken into custody.

The incident is being treated as a terrorist attack, two US government sources said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the New York City police department in investigating the incident, the sources said.
