Two U.S. service members died Wednesday when a suicide bomber attacked a NATO convoy near Kandahar, Afghanistan, military officials said.
Afghan police said the bomber hit the convoy of international troops south of the city.
"Resolute Support can confirm that a NATO convoy was attacked this afternoon in Kandahar," a statement read. "The attack did cause casualties."
A security source told Khaama Press the suicide bomber approached the convoy in a vehicle and detonated just after the troops left a military camp in Shor Andam, just south of Kandahar city.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
